For
more than two decades, we have lived in a world in which HIV and AIDS
affects
all of us – infected or not.
And for nearly all of those twenty plus years, the Sussex
County AIDS Committee (SCAC) has provided supportive services to
persons living with HIV or AIDS in Sussex County, Delaware, prevention
outreach and education to those at-risk, and advocacy and education
for affected by this disease.
Our
supportive services enable people living with HIV/AIDS to more easily
get to their doctor appointments, to receive nutritional food each
month, and to help pay for housing and utility costs.
Our prevention programs promote healthy life choices and risk
reduction to targeted populations throughout southern Delaware.
Our resource center is Sussex County’s only HIV specific
library and hosts a variety of workshops and support groups. We also offer free and anonymous HIV testing and counseling,
client advocacy, and community education.
All
of these services are provided with compassion, professionalism, and
the highest standard for client confidentiality and privacy.
They
are also provided, in large measure, through the generous support of
our community of friends. Through
the financial support of many we are able to extend our services far
beyond what public funding may otherwise enable us to do.
Through our volunteers’ donation of their time and talents,
we are able to serve far more than our small full-time staff could do
alone.
We
welcome you to contact us if you need any of our services, if you want
more information, or if you wish to make a difference in the lives of
so many by making a donation or volunteering with SCAC.
Thank
you.
